Rep. Barney Frank to stump in Palm Springs

Rep. Barney Frank will be in Palm Springs on Sunday, stumping for Democratic congressional candidate Mark Takano.

The Massachusetts Democrat is scheduled to headline a $100-per-person fundraiser at a private home in Palm Springs.

The event is hosted in conjunction with the Human Rights Campaign and the Victory Fund, according to an invitation that’s posted on ActBlue.com

Takano is campaigning for California’s new 41st Congressional District, a Democratic-favored district that spans the western Riverside County communities of Riverside, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley and Perris.

Although the district does not include the Coachella Valley, many desert Democratic groups — especially west-valley lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organizations — have taken a keen interest in Takano’s campaign.

Takano faces Riverside County Supervisor John Tavaglione, a Republican, on Nov. 6.
