Long-shot Republican presidential candidate Fred Karger is in Palm Springs today, wrapping up a two-day campaign trip to the desert.
Karger’s website did not outline what appearances he would be making while in the desert. But on Twitter, he said he attended a Tuesday evening fundraiser in Indian Wells for his “old friend” Rep. Mary Bono Mack.
Karger — who uses ”Fred who?” as a campaign slogan — will be in San Diego later today.
Karger, who widely touts that he is the first gay presidential candidate, is the founder and director of Rights Equal Rights. The group did independent opposition research on the supporters of Proposition 8, the same-sex marriage ban that California passed in 2008 but is now being challenged in court.
Karger gained some headlines last month when he kicked off the California leg of campaign with an ad called “Sexy Frisbee.” It features swimsuit clad supporters playing — you guessed it — Frisbee and concludes with two men kissing.
While Karger may be supporting Bono Mack, the Palm Springs Republican is actually a strong supporter of the GOP’s presumptive nominee, Mitt Romney.
