Local Democrats this weekend voted on the six delegates who will represent California’s 36th Congressional District at the party’s national convention.

The chosen six are:  Paula Kozlen; Vern Kozlen; Greg Rodriguez; Mary Jane Sanchez; Robert Westwood; and Jennifer Wilson.

The list of delegates indicates that local Democrats are trying to diversify by bringing in some new names. Only Rodriguez has served as a representative to the national convention before.

The Democratic National Convention will be held Sept. 3-6 in Charlotte, N.C.

Under the state’s redistricting, the new 36th Congressional District includes all of the Coachella Valley, Beaumont, San Jacinto and eastern Riverside County.
