Santorum stumps in the desert
Posted: February 13th, 2012 | Author: Erica Felci | Filed under: Political Insider | Tags: 2012 election, Rick SantorumIn case you missed it, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum made an unannounced visit to the Coachella Valley this weekend.
It marks the first time in this campaign cycle that one of the White House contenders has campaigned in the desert.
The former Pennsylvania senator held no rallies and didn’t give any big speeches.
Instead, he attended Saturday’s fundraiser for the Sacred Heart Church and School and went to Sunday Mass at the Palm Desert parish.
During the two-day trip, Santorum also attended a private campaign fundraiser at The Vintage Club in Indian Wells. No details were released.
My colleague, Marcel Honore, was able to catch up with Santorum for an interview published in today’s Desert Sun.
Unlike other presidential campaign appearances, Santorum’s trip to the desert generally remained off of the public radar.
His location was disclosed on Meet The Press during a lengthy TV interview Santorum did from Palm Desert. You can check out the clip here.
