Locals rally for Prop 29

Dubbed the California Cancer Research Act, passage of Prop 29 would increases the taxes on tobacco products in order to fund cancer research. The increased taxes would equate to $1 per pack of cigarettes.
Today’s rally will include the representatives of the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and American Lung Association of California.
The event starts at 1:30 p.m. at the public library in Palm Desert, 73300 Fred Waring Dr.
Prop 29 is one of two statewide measures on the June 5 ballot.
