Rep. Mary Bono Mack will hit the campaign trail on Thursday in support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The Palm Springs Republican will hold a conference call with reporters from across the country who the former Massachusetts governor’s campaign.

Bono Mack and New Hampshire State Sen. Jeb Bradley, a former congressman, will discuss former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s “failed record as speaker and his successful record as a lobbyist,” according to a media advisory from the Romney campaign.

It’s an interesting turn of events as Gingrich – one of the front runners for the Republican presidential nomination – has supported Bono Mack during at least two of her own reelection campaigns.

In July 2006, Gingrich headlined a fundraiser for Bono Mack that was held at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage.

And in an April 2010 letter to The Desert Sun, Gingrich again endorsed Bono Mack by calling her an “outstanding representative” and “my good friend.”

That same month, Bono Mack had introduced Gingrich when he appeared at the speaker series in Indian Wells. At that time, Bono Mack expressed hope that he would “has a big voice in the world’s future.”

That was then.

Bono Mack endorsed Romney’s campaign in June, saying Romney had a “proven record of leadership in both the private and public sectors” that would help revive the economy.
